Road to SUKMA 2026: The Future of Federal Territory Fencing Begins Now
The journey to SUKMA 2026 has officially begun, and the Federal Territory Amateur Fencing Association (FTAFA) is leading the charge with an ambitious and dynamic development program. This initiative aims to develop and nurture young fencing talents, transforming them into elite athletes who will represent the Federal Territory at SUKMA 2026.
Kickoff of the FT-FDP Program
FTAFA is proud to announce the commencement of the BAKAT FT-FDP (Fencing Talent Development Program). This program is designed to create a structured pathway for athletes from grassroots levels to national and international competition platforms.
Program Structure
The program is categorized into three levels:
- BAKAT (Talent Pool): Promising young fencers aged 12-16, honing their skills and preparing for greater challenges.
- PELAPIS (Rising Stars): Competitive fencers with impressive achievements in their age groups, ready to take their performance to the next level.
- ELITE (Top Performers): Fencers who have already made a mark at the national and international levels, including SUKMA medalists representing FT.

Program Objectives
FTAFA is committed to building a high-performance fencing team with specific objectives:
- Developing a structured and high-quality fencing program.
- Aligning training with Malaysia’s national competition calendar.
- Producing elite fencers for SUKMA, the Asian Junior & Cadet Championships (AJC), and the World Junior & Cadet Championships (WJC).
- Accumulating ranking points to elevate fencers’ international standings.
Training and Development Plan
- Intensive Coaching & Conditioning: A specialized training curriculum including fitness, sports science, psychology, and tactical development.
- International Exposure: Selected athletes will participate in key international tournaments.
- Elite Training Camps: A intensive training camp featuring an international coach.
