FEDERAL TERRITORY AMATEUR FENCING ASSOCIATION (FTAFA) RANKING SYSTEM 2019
OBJECTIVE:
To develop a structure where members of FTAFA are able to gauge and improve their development as fencers based on a fixed scoring system, within FTAFA.HOW THE RANKING SYSTEMS WORK:
The system will cover the following categories and age-group:

- The official FTAFA Ranking will take into account the best SIX (6) results of sanctioned competitions that the fencer has participated in. Note that when determining the best 6 results, the results allocated from a competition will cancel out results attributed to the same competition in the previous season.
- In the event of equal points, the ranking is based on who has gained the most first places, then second places, etc. If there is a complete tie, the fencers are ranked equal.
- For FTAFA-organised event, the up-to-date Ranking System will be used to determine seedings, exemptions and event ranking.
- Ranking points will only be allocated to fencers who are registered as members with FTAFA during the competition season.
- For FTAFA members who are based abroad/outside of Malaysia for the purpose of education, they are required to participate in at least ONE (1) local, FTAFA-sanctioned competition in order to be part of the ranking system. Once qualified, these fencers are allowed to submit results of any FIE- and/or Eurofencing-sanctioned competitions that they participated in as basis for the ranking points.
- All FTAFA Registered Members/fencers participating in a competition will be given ranking points.
- Points can be obtained in any competition which is open to all Malaysian and/or its categories, including but not limited to MFF-approved competitions, National level events and other fencing association-organised events. The list of approved competition will be published on the FTAFA website. Any changes/addition to the list of events will be announced and updated on the website accordingly.
- Points obtained will be on a rolling system and permanent updated for the respective age group/categories in the Ranking System as long as the respective fencers hold a valid and active membership in FTAFA.
- The ranking is based on the following points system:
For overseas fencers, the points system will is based as follows:a. 1st place 32 points b. 2nd place 26 points c. 3rd & 4th place 20 points d. 5th–8th places 14 points e. 9th–16th places 8 points f. 17th–32nd places 4 points g. 33rd–64th places 2 points h. 65th–96th places 1 point a. 1st place 32 points b. 2nd place 26 points c. 3rd & 4th place 20 points d. 5th–8th places 14 points e. 9th–16th places 10 points f. 17th–32nd places 8 points g. Qualified for DE 6 points - Points obtained from a competition are multiplied by a factor of 1 (one). However, certain approved competition will be given a higher multiplier – this is based on strength of competition and level of participation. The multiplier will be indicated in the Approved Competition lists that is published on the website (see Point #2).
- FTAFA reserves the right to invalidate or suspend the ranking for those with outstanding dues.
- The committee’s decision regarding the rankings scoring and standings is final.
