Ranking System

FEDERAL TERRITORY AMATEUR FENCING ASSOCIATION (FTAFA) RANKING SYSTEM 2019

OBJECTIVE:

To develop a structure where members of FTAFA are able to gauge and improve their development as fencers based on a fixed scoring system, within FTAFA.

HOW THE RANKING SYSTEMS WORK:

The system will cover the following categories and age-group:

CATEGORY:FOIL, EPEE AND SABRE
AGE GROUP:U10, U12, CADET (U17), JUNIOR (U20) AND SENIOR
Calculation Principles:

  1. The official FTAFA Ranking will take into account the best SIX (6) results of sanctioned competitions that the fencer has participated in. Note that when determining the best 6 results, the results allocated from a competition will cancel out results attributed to the same competition in the previous season.
  2. In the event of equal points, the ranking is based on who has gained the most first places, then second places, etc. If there is a complete tie, the fencers are ranked equal.
  3. For FTAFA-organised event, the up-to-date Ranking System will be used to determine seedings, exemptions and event ranking.
  4. Ranking points will only be allocated to fencers who are registered as members with FTAFA during the competition season.
  5. For FTAFA members who are based abroad/outside of Malaysia for the purpose of education, they are required to participate in at least ONE (1) local, FTAFA-sanctioned competition in order to be part of the ranking system. Once qualified, these fencers are allowed to submit results of any FIE- and/or Eurofencing-sanctioned competitions that they participated in as basis for the ranking points.
